Department of Political Science - DAV College, Kanpur

The Political Science Department of Dayanand Anglo Vedic College, Kanpur, inspired by the thoughts of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, occupies a special place in the glorious journey of 100 years of the college. The Department of Political Science was established in 1933 under the chairmanship of Dr. Shati Narayan Verma. Since its inception, the Department of Political Science has been on the path of continuous progress in continuous teaching-learning, reading, research studies and other educational activities. First Head of the Department Dr. Shanti Narayan, then Mr. Madan Mohan Pandey, Dr. Vishwa Narayan Srivastava, Mr. Hriday Aggarwal, Dr. G.P. Srivastava, Dr. Sushil Kumar, Dr. S.L. Saraswat, Dr. Satish Chandra, Smt. Pushpa Mishra, Dr. Deepshikha Chaturvedi, the current Head of the Department. It is progressing on its path under efficient leadership. In the year 1947, by embellishing the post of Prime Minister of India, Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Bajpai, who received a postgraduate degree from the Department of Political Science, made the department proud at the national and international level and made the department to the top position.

The alumni, who got education from here, made the department proud by introducing unique participation in administrative, political, academic and all fields. All the members of the department are continuously active in academic upgradation by imbibing new attitudes in research work and research direction-supervision and teaching. In the session 2018-2019, the student of the department got 3 gold medals in the university. Establishment of Atal Smriti Shodh Kendra is a unique achievement for the department and college.
